Wayside Gardens & Nurseries Pvt. Ltd. is situated in 6th Mile Tadong, on the outskirts of Gangtok, Sikkim, India. Set in a seven acre area at an altitude of 3,500 ft (1100 Mts) in the foothills of the Himalayas, the nursery is blessed with a unique microclimate where temperate and subtropical plants grow with ease.

Being 4th generation plants people, the nursery was commercially started by the Pradhan family in the late 70’s. It has been a labour of love for the whole family – specially Keshab C Pradhan and son Sailesh Pradhan for more than three decades, experimenting with newly introduced plants from the world over. Some of the plants grown in the nursery are: Orchids of Sikkim and the Himalayan orchid species, Rhododendrons of Sikkim, azaleas, landscaping plants like Hemerocallis (Day Lilies), Agapanthus, Magnolias, Bromeliads, bamboos, ferns etc. These are just to name a few among the

                                                   many perennial flowering plants and shrubs.

We are also honoured to mention that we have been responsible for introducing and propagating some of the first Cymbidium hybrid Orchids in India over 50 years ago. Thereafter importing the same many other hybrid orchids on a regular basis and propagating and breeding for the hobby growers, commercial orchid growers and home Gardens in India. Many of our earlier imports can be seen during the Sikkim Flower Show – which is usually held from Early March each year.
